Postpartum Yoga Workshop with Laura Baker Sun, Mar 10, 2019 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Caring for a baby, carrying baby, lugging a bulky carseat around, and breastfeeding can do a number on the physical body, not to mention the demands placed on the pelvic floor from pregnancy and childbirth. Whether you are a few years postpartum or in the throes of your “4th trimester”, join a community of moms on the mat while we discuss the many common aches and pains moms deal after childbirth which include: the effects of lingering prenatal hormones, diastasis recti, postural issues from carrying baby & breastfeeding. Even if a regular yoga practice is not your exercise program of choice, in the setting of the yoga studio and with the help of some props, Laura will talk and walk you through how you can most safely and effectively regain proper muscle engagement and strength. Moms will leave this two hour workshop feeling confident to return to a regular exercise routine, and good about setting reasonable expectations for themselves in the postpartum period. We will flow through stabilizing sequences that will repair and restore function to the intricate muscles of the pelvic floor, safely engage the core, strengthen legs, and back so that you can more safely and energetically take on the new task of caring for your baby outside the womb.
*Must have approval from Dr. to return to physical exercise.
