Movement arts have always been a part of Jill’s life. Taking her first dance class at the age of 3, she has a long history of being passionate about exercise that integrates the body with movement and rhythm. It was as a dancer in high school that yoga first found Jill; a moment in time that remained and led her to rediscover it while living in Anchorage, Alaska in the late 90’s. Years later, with two cross-country moves behind her, yoga continues to be a source of strength, joy, and peace of mind in an otherwise very busy life. After an engaging career as a social worker, Jill reunited with her passion for holistic health and wellness by becoming a certified sports nutritionist in 2010, and then earned her 200-hour Yoga Alliance training in 2012 with Dominique Ponko, of Yoga Flow. Jill continues to study from as many teachers as possible, building meaningful relationships through her commitment to personal growth and spiritual fulfillment. She is dedicated to developing herself in full expression as both teacher and student, with the firm belief that living is learning. Jill’s goal as a teacher is pure: She hopes to reach people’s hearts. If her students experience even the smallest portion of the peace and clarity that yoga has brought to her life, she will feel blessed to have served the community. When not on her yoga mat, Jill can usually be found flirting with her photographic funk by trial and error or baking some deliciousness for her husband, spirited middle-schooler and tireless teen.
